About Janella
With over 30 years of experience in the field of nutrition, I am a seasoned Registered Dietitian dedicated to helping individuals improve their health through practical, sustainable dietary changes. I began my career as a clinical dietitian in a hospital setting, where I spent four years gaining foundational experience in patient care and nutrition therapy. For the past 26 years, I have specialized as a renal dietitian, providing individualized diet education, lab review, and monthly follow-ups for patients with chronic kidney disease. In addition to my renal expertise, I am well-versed in managing prediabetes, improving lipid profiles, and supporting lifestyle changes aimed at achieving and maintaining a healthy weight
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition education is rooted in practicality, patience, and partnership. I believe in setting small, achievable goals that lead to meaningful, long-term progress. Rather than overwhelming individuals with drastic changes, I focus on gradual improvements that fit into their lifestyle and health needs. Education is at the heart of my workâhelping patients understand the âwhyâ behind their dietary choices empowers them to take control of their health. I emphasize sustainable habits over quick fixes, and I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where individuals feel heard and encouraged every step of the way.
Your first session with Janella
During our first session, weâll take time to get to know each other and begin building a plan tailored specifically to your health needs and goals. Iâll review your medical history, current lab results, medications, and any nutrition concerns you may have. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share your eating habits, lifestyle, and challenges so I can better understand how to support you. Weâll discuss realistic goals and start with small, manageable changes you can begin right away. My approach is gradual and supportiveâno judgment, just practical steps designed to fit your life and improve your health over time. By the end of the visit, youâll leave with clear guidance, a better understanding of how your diet affects your health, and a plan that weâll continue to build on in future follow-ups.
