About Janet
I became a dietitian mainly to discover and learn more about my personal health conditions - ED and I was diagnosed with TRAPS (TNF-associated periodic syndrome) at the age of 27, and have been living with this disorder since I was 5 years old. I’ve also been very motivated to help those who share similar disorders and show them that it’s a manageable condition based on lifestyle. My purpose is to find a happy median between functional medicine nutrition and MIEP. My work history includes working at Davita dialysis for over 3 years, West Gables rehabilitation hospital for 1 year, North Dade Nursing and Rehab as independent contractor for 1 year and Florida Dept of Health WIC for 5 years.
Approach to care
I like to use the functional medicine approach and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I leave no stone unturned. I look at the patient as a whole for example head to toe. We will go way back until the last time you haven't felt well.
Your first session with Janet
Expect me to be your health detective as we go into your medical history, any diagnosis, recent bloodwork/labs, what worked and what didn't , supplements , medications, your social life, work life etc.. I want to be able to paint a picture of your life. This way any recommendation or suggestion is coming from a place of understanding so that you can implement each strategy. My strategies are customized for each individual.
