About Jenna
My nutrition background has been very diverse, much like the clients I serve! I have extensive experience in outpatient nutrition counseling, specializing in college aged students and women's health. I also have multiple years of experience providing outpatient nutrition therapy for patients with end stage renal disease. I love helping clients' feel more confident in their ability to nourish themselves well, honoring their unique nutrition needs. Nutrition education has been a large part of my career, teaching in small group settings as well as university classrooms. I enjoy communicating complex nutrition concepts in simple language that my clients can actually apply and live out. I aim to help my clients understand true, evidenced-based nutrition so that they can confidently live it out without falling prey to fad diets and misinformation.
Approach to care
I believe nutrition should SUPPORT your life- not BECOME your life! I practice from a Health at Every Size perspective that honors body diversity and supports healthy behavior change as opposed to "size and weight management". I believe all bodies are good bodies and that our bodies are meant to change throughout our lives. I love working with clients to help them re-establish body trust and connectedness. I take a holistic nutrition approach, making recommendations that support clients' physical, mental, emotional, and relational wellbeing. I am most interested in helping clients create healthy rhythms and flexible health practices that they can maintain for life. I combine my nutrition expertise with relational empathy so that clients feel seen, understood, and supported.
Your first session with Jenna
We will complete an initial nutrition intake during your first session. I will share more about myself and give you an opportunity to share your nutrition "story", as well as your intention in seeking nutrition counseling. We will then go over any relevant health history and dive into some more nutrition-related questions surrounding your relationship with food, exercise, and body image. I will listen carefully and attentively and ask follow-up questions when needed. From there, we will map out a plan of what our next few sessions will look like and create some goals for our work together. If we don't finish intake in our first session, we will complete it in the second! I would rather us have time to be intentional as opposed to rushing through. I hope our first session will "cast some vision" for what direction you would like to head and that you will leave feeling hopeful!
