About Jenna
I'm a Registered Dietitian with 16 years of experience in hospitals and nonprofits, providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for almost any health concern imaginable. I have a wealth of experience offering culturally-competent, body-positive, LGBT+ friendly nutrition counseling. During the 9 years at my previous job, roughly 75% of my patients were Black, Latino/a, and/or Asian; and over half identified as LGBT+. I have worked with unhoused people, CEOs, and every socioeconomic bracket between. I grew up in Texas, and I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband. Our three adolescent daughters and two cats also tolerate our presence.
Approach to care
I offer a compassionate, empathetic, whole-person approach to nutrition counseling. I will listen to your goals and preferences, never pressuring you to take steps you’re not ready for. I view our time together as a partnership. You're a whole person with a whole entire life beyond just what you eat. If you're here for weight management, you should know that, as a dietitian in a larger body, I am uniquely sensitive to the many factors influencing a person's weight besides merely "calories in, calories out." My approach to nutrition counseling prioritizes optimal health outcomes over the number on your bathroom scale, so we can talk as little or as much about that number as you want!
Your first session with Jenna
I'll begin our first session by asking about your health- or nutrition-related goals for yourself, since we will build a partnership over time with you at its center. After that, depending on what information I've already received from you or your provider, I may spend some time learning about your medical history, your eating habits, and your life outside of what you put in your stomach each day. After providing any relevant nutrition education, I will work with you to identify goals and a plan of action that are realistic, measurable, and achievable. Lastly, we will schedule a follow-up session, as desired.

Hobbies
Outside of my work as a dietitian, I moonlight as a fiction author. In any spare moment left over, my husband and I stay busy improvising voices for our cats and unintentionally embarrassing our three adolescent daughters.
