About Jennifer
Welcome, my name is Jennifer White. I am a credentialed and licensed RDN who earned a Master of Science in Nutrition from Meredith College in North Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health from Miami University Ohio. My career began as an inpatient clinical dietitian in a community hospital where I worked with patients experiencing a variety of medical conditions. During this time, I was also able to begin my career working with outpatient oncology patients experiencing treatment side effects. In the pursuit to further my clinical knowledge, I moved positions to a level one trauma hospital working as a neurology ICU dietitian. Most recently, I have worked as an oncology dietitian covering three outpatient cancer centers. I focus on medical nutrition therapy and helping patients get optimal nutrition through evidence-based nutrition education. My goal is to empower others to live a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and physical activity.
Approach to care
An individualized approach to nutrition care is how I collaborate with my patients. Focusing on patient-centered care allows for a relationship that prioritizes the patients' preferences and values while fostering an active role in their treatment plan. This gives them a sense of ownership and control. The client is the expert in their life, and I strive to understand the whole person as well as their lifestyle, needs, and goals. Working together to implement a nutrition plan that works for them and improves long-term health and happiness. The on-line sessions will provide the ability to have consistent check-ins for monitoring, the ability for making adjustments as needed, and accessibility for providing support. I like to encourage slow, consistent, sustainable changes to get the patient to their goals. I believe that when a patient feels heard and respected their openness and enjoyment of the process increases.
Your first session with Jennifer
During an initial visit, you can expect to get acquainted through a face-to-face introduction. Initial assessments will include collecting lifestyle, health history, dietary habits, and nutrition goals while also addressing any barriers and nutritional concerns. As a dietitian providing medical nutrition therapy, I address specific disease states and work to improve health outcomes. Together we will determine a suitable intervention/s that provides a personalized nutrition plan to address any specific needs and goals. Sessions may include (appointments look different for each patient) discussing the rationale behind the nutrition plan, discussing healthy eating habits that relate to the specific disease state, reviewing meal plan ideas, reviewing food specifics, and exploring any barriers to implementing changes. I aim to provide patients with the knowledge that allows them to make the most informed choices for their lifestyle. Follow-ups are planned to monitor and measure progress.
