About Jenny
Hi there! I’m Jenny Heap — registered dietitian nutritionist, avid hiker, traveler, and donut enthusiast. I became interested in nutrition as a high-school athlete when I started to notice how food choices made me feel and how they impacted my performance. At the same time, health, wellness, and the emotions associated with food really came to life while watching my mom navigate a dual diagnosis of Chron’s and celiac disease (BEFORE gluten-free was a thing!) After grad school, I moved to the DC metro area to begin my career in nutrition education and partnered with a local gastroenterologist to do one-on-one patient counseling. I specialize in celiac disease, food sensitivities, gut/digestive health, and helping people simplify the sometimes complex world of food and nutrition. Whether you are navigating a diagnosis or just want to feel your best, I’d love to assist in your journey!
Approach to care
I take a practical, holistic approach to nutrition. I focus on helping clients find joy in their health journey and developing practices that fuel their priorities, improve symptoms, and boost confidence in making food choices. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits all approach. You are the expert on YOU. What works for one person may not work for another, so we’ll work together on an individualized plan to reach your goals.
Your first session with Jenny
I’ll take time to get to know you and your priorities. Then we’ll walk through a typical day. Nutrition choices don’t happen in a vacuum, so we’ll take time to talk about your lifestyle — sleep, physical activity, stress levels — and anything else that might impact your wellness. We’ll also review your medical history and relevant lab work so that by the end of the session, we have a holistic view of your health and can begin developing a plan to reach your goals.
