About Jessica
Jess Romola has over 10 years of experience working as a registered dietitian specialized in nutrition counseling, with a focus on Intuitive Eating and weight inclusive care. She began her career in a community setting where she gained experience with a wide variety of conditions, allowing her to incorporate her non-diet approach into medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, heart disease, GI concerns, disordered eating, and more. Jess has additional training as a holistic and functional chef from The Natural Gourmet Institute of NYC along with one year of postgraduate education in mental health counseling.
Approach to care
Jess comes to each session with an open-mind, humility, and commitment to client autonomy. She works diligently to create brave spaces where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves, their challenges, and what's most important to them. Additionally, Jess's process-oriented approach digs deeper than providing cookie cutter meal plans or rigid rules. She takes the time to guide clients to a stronger understanding of the "why" behind their actions so they can cultivate a more compassionate and supportive mindset around food and their bodies, and move forward with sustainable choices that feel intuitively right for them as individuals.
Your first session with Jessica
Trust is crucial to the counseling relationship. The first session is about getting to know each other so that you feel as comfortable as possible. Jess will want to learn more about your goals, as well as what experiences you've had with healthcare providers, diets, and wellness culture in the past. Knowing more about your likes and dislikes, as well as your concerns and goals, will help Jess create the safest space possible for you. Depending on how the conversation evolves, there may or may not be a whole lot of "action" during this first session - remember, true wellness isn't about quick fixes! - but you will leave with clear expectations and next steps.
