About Jingshu

Hi! This is Jing. I was born and raised in China. But since coming to US for a MS degree originally, I've studied and lived here for over 17 years. I can say that I am pretty multicultural and definitely bilingual. I believe in small sustainable changes that lead to better life styles and inner harmony playing such an important role in our health especially after I became a mother of two. I love food and travel. I used to very much enjoy solo travel at my own pace. I have worked in community health for almost 10 years and then jumped back to clinicals pretty recent, which means I have both inpatient and outpatient experience as well as working with different populations and ethnic groups. As far as nutrition counseling goes, I would like to help people find what works for them and at the same time accept who they are. Hope to connect with you and have a meaningful journey together!

Approach to care

Approach to care: 1. Attention to details: I believe good care starts with listening and combing through your daily habits so we can be spot on with targeted changes. 2. Client centered and client paced care: Whether it's a big or small goal, whether you want to go faster or slower, I will meet where you are. 3. Individualized counseling: I will strive to speak your language and walk in your shoes. 4. Small feasible goals lead to new habits and lifestyle changes: Will only set a goal that you are confident and know it would “stick” for the long run. 5. Welcome patients with a shared background: I have been in the dilemma you have. In fact, I probably still face them daily. But now we can discuss and look for solutions together! 6. No judgment: No food police here. No hard feelings here. Being healthy also means being capable of feeling happiness and accepting who we are. Also knowing that we are the one who can achieve a better version of ourselves.

Your first session with Jingshu

What to expect: First, we will spend some time and get to know each other a little. I want you to feel comfortable sharing some parts of your life with me. Then we will go through your medical history and identify our focus and your long term goal. After that, I will guide you through the process of coming up with a couple of small and and feasible goals that you can work on in the coming weeks. During the process, we will brainstorm what would work the best for you. And don't worry, even though we can be data driven (if that's your preferred approach), you would be surprised to see the improvement even at the thinking process stage. Sometimes, getting motivated to think is all we need to start.
