About Jo Ann
I am looking forward to meeting you. I have been a registered dietitian since 2004. Completed undergraduate at California State University, Fresno followed by internship at Porterville Developmental Center. My work experience includes inpatient (hospital and rehabilitation), skilled nursing, group homes, Area Agency on Aging (Merced, CA), and WIC counseling for high-risk participants and as a WIC Director. As a consultant I have worked with all age groups (infants, adults and elderly). My daughter was born pre-mature at 24 weeks after my husband's auto accident with severe burns (third degree burns on 65% of his body). He survived 19 years after the accident. She was a healthy baby with no major illness other than cognitive impairment. She is now 41 years old, and she blessed me with a granddaughter who is 18. My interest is helping others achieve a better understanding how their daily food intake affects how they feel, and their overall health.
Approach to care
I want to get to know you, and your concerns regarding the connection between food and overall health. With my encouragement I can guide you to better eating habits, and work with you to focus on what really matters to you. If your concerns are weight management, reducing high blood pressure or reducing your risk for heart disease and stroke, pre-diabetes or diabetes management a nutritional assessment including a review of lab results is key to understanding what to focus our sessions on. With compassion and understanding I will support you through your journey to better health.
Your first session with Jo Ann
During your first session I will briefly introduce myself, and we will spend our time learning more about you. What are your nutritional concerns. What you have tried in the past, and what you feel may be the most helpful in achieving your short term and long term goals. We will review your nutritional health including weight status, lab results, family history, and risk factors for disease and chronic conditions including activity level, and sleep patterns. We will schedule follow-up visits that work best for you, and review the Nourish guarantee "no surprise billing."
