About Joann
Hi my name is Joann Teller. I became interested in nutrition when I was in my early 20's. It began in an unexpected way with my curiosity about metaphysics. I believe our mental and spiritual states directly influence our physical health. I believe in clean eating. I utilize a "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" Hippocrates approach to better health. I am an experienced, professional Registered Dietitian with more then 25 years of experience, mostly working with Kidney patients, building professional relationships with clients of all cultures. I use a practice what I preach philosophy! I have been struggling with my weight, overweight as an adolescent and called many names, and kept it in range for decades now. I eat a variety of cultural foods in moderation and keep active physically and mentally to achieve a whole body balance. I would love to bring you along a healthy balanced journey for your own. There are no judgement zones here. We discuss your goals!
Approach to care
Preventative nutritional approach utilizing the all foods fit criteria. I believe in all foods in moderation utilizing nutrient dense foods as the main source of energy. But also being able to enjoy the not so good ones by being able to identify what is best and what is not. We all love some chips, chocolate, ice cream or a nice dessert at times. There is always good options. I like the Mediterranean diet approach. I discuss the variety of fats and fiber and the importance of how they impact our lifestyle and health (Gut and Brain).
Your first session with Joann
Provide a trusting, lasting relationship that builds on your goals, habits and behaviors that are sustainable for a lifetime. (I've been working on my diet for 45 years and continue to do so. No one is perfect.) Opportunity to get to know each other to build on a plan that will work and/or fit into the clients lifestyle. We will most likely discuss history, dietary habits and lifestyle factors. There is no rush or fast way to achieve results. I try to take whatever time it takes to keep you on track.
