About Joanna
I have almost 10 years of experience as a dietitian. I have worked in long term care and short term rehabilitation facilities, school/early childhood nutrition, and public health. Before I started my journey of becoming a dietitian, I attended culinary school and worked as a pastry chef. So, I know great tasting food is very important and has a place in a healthy diet. My experience working in food service has helped me to gain a deeper understanding of food science and how we can change up recipes to suit our dietary needs, without sacrificing traditional flavors. I enjoy teaching cooking and nutrition lessons.
Approach to care
I use evidence-based nutrition, and tailor to suit an individual's own lifestyle, culture, and tastes. I will work with you to help set achievable goals, and build on these goals as you progress. I want you to be able to narrow down and focus on what you find most important for your health.
Your first session with Joanna
In the first session, we will introduce ourselves, and I’ll be gathering information to help guide our nutrition counseling sessions. We will talk about your vision for your health. Then, we will make at least one achievable goal to work on over the next few days.
