About Joanne
I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for 26 years. I have worked in a variety of areas in nutrition. My specialities include Functional Nutrition Medicine (FMNS), Sports Nutrition, Kidney Disease, Healthy Weight Management, Early Intervention, Gut Health, Hormone Health, Autoimmune and Food Sensitivities. I teach nutrition education at a private school to 7th and 10th graders and own my own private practice. As a FMNS, I complete functional testing on patients to get to the root cause of their health issues. I played field hockey in college and continue to play and coach. I am an active mom and have three children.
Approach to care
I take a very individual approach to nutrition. Studying functional nutrition has taught me to look at the "whole" patient. I like to find the root causes of health concerns and correct them instead of just treating your symptoms. I don't just look at your food intake. I assess your activity levels, lifestyle, sleep hygiene, stress management and gut health. I create an individualized plan that works for you. I do not like to use the word "diet" and I don't believe in quick fixes. I like to set short-term goals with my patients and work on creating healthy habits that stick.
Your first session with Joanne
In our first session, I want to know what my patient's goals and needs are. I will complete a full assessment on you and gather a lot of information. I will have you set your own short-term goals at the end of the session, based on your readiness and motivation levels. I want to set you up for success.
