About John Emmanuel

John is a registered dietitian with a Masters in Nutritional Sciences from Rutgers University. He has experience in the management of eating disorders, weight loss, weight management in adults/aging adults, weight maintenance, bariatric surgery, and GI disorders. He recognizes how defeating and deflating it can be on patients when it comes to managing their weight just to feel some normalcy and comfort in their own body. He is very passionate about challenging and breaking down those mental blocks (that has a strong hold on everyone's life) in simple and structured ways.

Approach to care

I believe that leading with respect, constantly adapting to your unique challenges, and developing calm within yourself will help the both of us reach your goals. Navigating your life is already stressful, we don't need to add on to it! My goal is for you to worry less about food, so you can have the space to address everything else in your life. All I ask is that you open yourself up to learning more about what food means to your body and how your body naturally reacts to having food. Only then will making changes become easier to follow and stick to in the long-term. So, hold tight, breathe out the stress in your chest, and believe that you have the power to make changes in your life with us working together.

Your first session with John Emmanuel

The first session will set the foundation of everything you need to know to make the goals we set moving forward easier. We will spend most of the session getting to know you -- how you got here, what you would like to accomplish, and identifying what's been holding you back. We will then explore how your body reacts to your lifestyle to have a better understanding of your needs and health issues. Finally, we will determine together how long it will take for you to reach your goals that is both safe and realistic. At first, I will guide you to set the structure, but I will slowly give you the reigns when YOU feel confident. And know that after every meeting, we will always have a plan together.
