About Joleen
I’ve been a registered dietitian nutritionist since 2020 and have been working in private practice ever since. I truly love what I do and feel grateful to help people create healthier, more balanced lives. Becoming a dietitian has been a lifelong dream of mine. I knew back in high school this was the path I wanted, and while raising my family, I went back to school to make it a reality. I live in a small rural community in Illinois with my husband of almost 25 years, and together we’ve been blessed with eight wonderful children. Both my professional journey and personal life have taught me the importance of meeting people where they are and finding realistic, sustainable ways to reach health goals. I love connecting with others and supporting them on their journey toward feeling their best.
Approach to care
I believe that lasting change happens through small, steady steps. I take the time to get to know each client—their lifestyle, their challenges, and their goals—so together we can create a plan that feels realistic and personal. I focus on setting achievable goals and building confidence along the way, rather than expecting big changes all at once. My approach is individualized, supportive, and rooted in helping people find what works best for them in their everyday life.
Your first session with Joleen
During your first visit, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your medical history, current health concerns, medications, and any recent lab work so I can get a complete picture of your needs. We’ll also talk about your current nutrition habits, your relationship with food, and any weight history that may be important for your care. This helps me understand not only where you are now, but also what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. Once we’ve gathered all of that information, we’ll start building a personalized plan tailored to you. Together, we’ll set realistic nutrition goals and outline simple, practical steps to help you move forward with confidence. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and ready to take that first step toward better health.
Education
I earned my undergraduate degrees in Nutrition and Health and Dietetics from Kansas State University. I then went on to complete my Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Eastern Illinois University.
Hobbies
Outside of work and spending time with my family, you’ll most often find me outdoors. I enjoy hiking, running, paddle boarding, and simply soaking up time in nature.
