About Joseph

My path to nutrition started as a high school athlete who believed that nutrition impacted performance, health, and well-being. That core passion has turned into a 27 year career which has allowed me to work with active duty military, their families, veterans, and Alaska Natives/Native Americans throughout our country and abroad. During that time, I’ve had wide ranging experiences as a generalist dietitian but have also focused on sports nutrition with military special forces, diabetes prevention/management, and adult weight loss. All those experiences have broadened my understanding of how nutrition impacts how we live and feel every day, and I’d love to put that understanding to work for you.

Approach to care

I have a relaxed and non-judgmental approach to care that allows my patients to feel free to ask all questions and to take an active role and ownership in their nutrition journey. I’ve been described as a natural educator by my peers and patients alike. I pursue sustainable improvements in nutrition over perfection. Small changes can result in large improvements in our health, and that momentum can lead to larger changes and more significant improvements. I’m more interested in the journey of improving health, to especially include acknowledging and learning from the setbacks, than I am in obtaining the perfect diet.

Your first session with Joseph

I’m here for you! I want to learn about the events and circumstances that led you to find a dietitian, and what would make you consider out time together a success. I want to better understand your lifestyle, medical history, and where you are coming from. Then let’s talk about where you want to go and start to think about how we are going to get there. In our partnership I’ll offer options and tips I’ve picked up in my 27-year career and you’ll let me know which ones you are most comfortable with and are likely to fit into your lifestyle. I’m confident some of these tips and tricks will bring you further along in your nutrition journey and help you reach your health goals.
