About Joy
Hello my name is Joy, I've worked in different areas of nutrition including public health, corporate nutrition, and in the outpatient settings. I've taught diabetes education classes and worked as a lifestyle coach. The favorite part of my job is meeting new people, and relating as we strive to make changes for the better. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, and trying new foods.
Approach to care
I believe in treating others the way I want to be treated. We all have areas to improve, so as we converse, keep in mind there's no judgement. As a dietitian, I'm not a food cop, I'm going to listen and provide the information you need to get to the next step. My hope is that you will feel supported and encouraged whether a goal is achieved or not.
Your first session with Joy
During the first session, I will want to hear mostly from you. I want to learn about what foods you like, what cooking methods you use, what restaurants you frequent, and what your eating patterns are like (how many meals and snacks you eat on average etc.). I'll want to learn about what your days are like. Don't worry, I will guide you in the conversation, but need to learn about your food and exercise habits and preferences, this takes time. Remember, there is no judgement.
Education
I obtained a baccalaureate degree at a four-year university.
Hobbies
I enjoy nature walks, swimming, and learning about different cultures.
