About Joy

Hi! My name is Joy. I have been a practicing Registered Dietitian for 24 years and am proud to say that I still have the same passion for helping others accomplish their health and wellness goals as I did all those years ago. I grew up traveling the world with a military family and thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and using their individuality to support their health journey.

Approach to care

I believe the secret to success is establishing an honest, open and trusting relationship with clients. We are not meant to tackle hard things alone because we can do better together. I believe in really listening to the client and tailoring health goals to the individual. I believe in striving for progression, over perfection. After all, we are humans, not robots! I believe in celebrating all accomplishments, because ANYTHING you do to help yourself, is 100% better than doing nothing at all.

Your first session with Joy

The first session is a time for us to learn more about one another. It's a time for me to learn where it is you've come from, as well as your ideas on where you are headed. It's easy to get overzealous and jump in headfirst into making changes, but both the proverbial turtle and behavior change research, have repeatedly proven that slow and steady wins the race. While we will likely end with some basic nutrition and wellness education and possibly even some goal setting, the first session will primarily focus on getting to know each other and building a foundation for a plan which seeks long-term success, over a short-term fix.
