About Joyce

I've spent years working as a dietitian at skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and at The University of Vermont Medical Center, where I practiced as both an inpatient dietitian specializing in critical care and as an outpatient dietitian for a primary care clinic. I obtained my Lifestyle Medicine Diplomate certification in 2023, thanks to a scholarship from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. My strong clinical background is an essential part of my diverse skills base as a counselor. I have always loved food and cooking (and eating!) and because of this, I will never ask you to give up your favorite foods, nor will I ever judge what you eat.

Approach to care

After sessions with me, clients will walk away feeling empowered to make lifestyle changes. We will debunk common diet and nutrition myths and set personalized goals that work with your lifestyle. I will listen and speak to you with patience, kindness, and compassion. If you have a health condition that requires you to make dietary changes, whether that's diabetes, heart disease, IBS, or more, I am here to support you. I view health with a broad lens because there's so much more to nutrition than the physical act of eating. Mindfulness is a huge part of my practice, as well as teaching you how to listen to your body's hunger and fullness cues.

Your first session with Joyce

During our first session, I will ask questions to collect background information and get to know you as a person. I'll ask about your typical meals, sleep, stress, exercise, digestive issues, and more. We will discuss your health concerns, your motivation for making changes, and go over questions that you have about nutrition. To end the session, we will set specific and attainable goals for you to work on for our next session together!
