About Juan Pablo
Hello and thank you for visiting my page! I am a Registered Dietitian and am passionate about helping others achieve their unique health goals with gradual, collaborative, and caring/compassionate approach. I was born in Mexico City and have been I living in New York City for 20+years. My work as a restaurant chef sparked an interest in healthy eating and I decided to pursue a career in nutrition. I previously worked as an in-patient dietitian and now am an outpatient dietitian at Bellevue Hospital in the Lifestyle Medicine group. I have seen first-hand how evidence-based recommendations have led to amazing improvements in my patients and I would be thrilled to work with you I speak Spanish and English fluently and am conversational in French.
Approach to care
As a registered dietitian focused on general nutrition and plant-based nutrition. I believe that food is so much more than just fuel - it's a cornerstone of your overall health, intricately connected to your energy levels, mood, sleep, and connection to others. I aim to create a safe and confidential space for you to speak openly and sometimes vulnerably about how you relate to eating and food. Our work together will begin with conversations to help me learn about your current eating habits and what success looks like for you. We will explore where there are opportunities for you to make some realistic adjustments to how you eat. I will help you identify specific daily goals that can lead to healthy daily habits. We will work toward Improving your relationship with food in a way thatâs both healthy and satisfying. Together, we'll delve into how I can support your healthy life journey.
Your first session with Juan Pablo
The first session is our opportunity to start getting to know one another. Iâll ask what led you to scheduling this time with me. I recognize that often the real core issues take some time to come to the surface so I will approach our work together with patience and understanding. Youâll have an opportunity to share whatâs working for you, where youâre having challenges, and what success looks like for you when it comes to food. It is also a great opportunity to help explain my approach in practice. We will review basic information, relevant conditions and past approaches used to treat the conditions, if any. We will also discuss any advantages the patient has to meet their goals, as well as any potential challenges or barriers to help determine strategies to overcome them.
