About Kara

Hi, I'm Kara. I bring 8 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian and a Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University at Buffalo. My work in outpatient nutrition counseling and education has taught me how to translate science into practical, sustainable advice that fits real life. I specialize in weight management care and related conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Outside of work you’ll find me on a road bike, in an exercise class, or planning my next travel adventure. I’m excited to walk beside you as you make lasting changes that suit how you live!

Approach to care

My care philosophy centers on partnership, clarity, and lasting change. I won’t ever tell you that you can’t eat your favorite food again, even if it’s not the most ideal choice, I’ll work with you to incorporate your favorite food into your diet while still achieving your health goals. I'll meet you where you are without judgement, I'll translate current science into practical steps, track progress and we will adjust as your life evolves. My approach focuses on lasting habits rather than quick fixes. I am here to make your life better, not more stressful. Expect honest guidance, achievable plans, and ongoing support. I am here to listen, educate, motivate and be your accountability partner! I will be your biggest cheerleader!

Your first session with Kara

Our first appointment is all about you. We’ll review your medical history, labs/biometrics and I’ll review your daily habits. By the end we will set short-term goals that feel achievable. No pressure and no judgment here; think of it as a friendly conversation where we map out a practical plan together. You don’t need to have everything figured out in advance, just bring your questions and what matters most to you. By the end, you’ll have a couple of concrete steps to start with and a sense of momentum.

I enjoy road biking and participating in group exercise classes- my favorites are boxing, CrossFit, HITT styled classes. I love trying new foods and traveling to new places (mostly to try authentic foods) and see the views. I prefer warm weather and anywhere with a beach though I live where it snows a lot, so I also find joy in skiing.
