About Kara
Hi, I’m Kara. With 25 years as a Registered Dietitian, I bring a broad perspective shaped by clinical hospital care, private practice, research, and long-term care. I earned my MS in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Kansas Hospital, and I hold postnominals including MS, RDN, LD, RD and LDN. When I’m not working, you’ll find me volunteering at the local animal shelter and fostering cats and dogs, which reminds me how daily routines support the wellbeing of every life. I value science, practicality, and warmth, and I strive to make nutrition feel doable for real people in real lives.
Approach to care
My care philosophy blends evidence-based science with genuine care. I believe lasting health comes from sustainable habits, not extreme diets, and we’ll build a plan that fits your life rather than asking you to fit into a plan. You’ll find me empathetic and curious, guiding you to understand your relationship with food while staying focused on practical steps. I practice through a holistic, educational lens and embrace a Health at Every Size, weight-neutral approach that honors your values and supports long-term wellbeing.
Your first session with Kara
Our first appointment is a warm, collaborative conversation focused on you. We'll review your medical history, take a deep dive into your relationship with food, and establish short-term goals. We’ll also review lab work and biometrics to ground our plan in data. You don’t need to have it all figured out yet; this is the start of a partnership. Together, we’ll translate what matters most into a gentle, achievable path you can begin today.
