About Karla
Hi, I'm Karla, a Registered Dietitian with 28 years of experience. I earned my BS in Nutrition from Immaculata University and I'm certified as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. My work has taken me from private practice to community health and clinical hospital settings, where I help people turn nutrition into sustainable daily habits. I carry the postnominals CDCES, LDN, and RDN, and I'm passionate about HAES, empathy, and education. Outside of work I enjoy fitness, yoga, Pilates, cooking, and aging successfully.
Approach to care
My care philosophy blends evidence-based practice with warmth and collaboration. I stay grounded in current research and proven protocols, but I translate that knowledge into real-life steps you can actually follow. We'll work together to set clear, doable actions that fit your routine, values, and preferences. I practice Health At Every Size, focusing on behaviors and well-being rather than a number on the scale, and I view health holistically, considering mobility, sleep, stress management, and joy alongside nourishment. Education is central; I'll explain the why and empower you to make informed choices.
Your first session with Karla
Our first appointment is all about you. We'll start by reviewing your medical history and any recent lab work or biometrics, then dive into your relationship with food and your daily routines. I'll listen without judgment and we'll explore what has helped and what hasn't, in the context of your life. We'll identify 1 or 2 short-term goals to begin with, and I'll outline practical steps we can take together this week. You don't need to have it all figured out; just show up as you are, and we'll shape a path that feels doable and hopeful.
