About Karlyn

My personal journey has been enriched by various experiences – from exploring the world as a flight attendant and immersing myself in diverse cuisines and cultures to deeply understanding the human body through my training as a massage therapist. These experiences, combined with my time as a dietitian at a residential rehabilitation center that focuses on trauma, addiction, mood, and eating disorders, have deepened my understanding of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

Approach to care

I’m a Registered Dietitian (RD) with a unique perspective on nutrition. Recognizing the unique nature of each individual’s journey and the importance of a holistic and personalized approach that addresses not only the physiological needs but also the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contribute to disordered eating, such as trauma, emotional regulation, and self-worth. I am passionate about helping others repair and strengthen their relationship with food and their bodies. Whether you’re seeking support for eating disorders, weight management, chronic disease prevention, digestive health, or navigating life transitions, together we’ll explore mindful eating principles, intuitive nutrition, and body positivity to develop a sustainable and compassionate relationship with food, mind, and body.

Your first session with Karlyn

In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you and understand your unique needs. Think of this as a collaborative conversation where we'll work together to build a foundation for your nutritional journey. We'll begin by understanding your lifestyle, preferences, and daily routines by discussing diet history, including typical meals, snacks, and portion sizes. We'll delve into your medical history, discuss your past and present relationship with food, and address any emotional eating, restrictive habits, or concerns about body image. This open conversation creates a safe space to understand your unique challenges and strengths. Finally, we'll establish realistic and achievable nutritional goals tailored to your needs and preferences. These goals will serve as a roadmap, guiding us towards sustainable lifestyle changes and improved overall health. We will also discuss food access and potential barriers to achieving your goals.
