About Katherine
My name is Katherine, and I have been a Dietitian for 3 years. I grew up in Tennessee and am a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis. Dance was my sport and my first love growing up. I danced at the collegiate competitive level before I transitioned to a contemporary company. I also taught dance for 10 years and ultimately became a barre instructor, too! With all of this history, nutrition was always an interest; but it wasn't until I had graduated from college that I decided to go back to school to become an expert in nutrition. I ultimately learned that healing my relationship with food was the piece of nutrition that I was missing! I have a passion for helping my patients find a healthier, more sustainable way to accomplish their nutrition goals while maintaining a love for eating foods they love.
Approach to care
My approach is based in behavior change and motivational interviewing. If you are looking for a quick fix or immediate results, I may not be the best fit. I firmly believe that lasting, sustainable nutrition and health changes come with consistency, building new habits, patience, and an understanding that we are in this for the long haul! An important aspect of transforming your nutrition is you leading the way. I am here to offer my expertise and advice, but I will be working with you to work towards the goals that you want. This means you will play an active role in our treatment plan. Whether you're an athlete, a new mom, someone trying to manage a new diagnosis, or whatever brings to to seek out nutrition counseling, you owe it to yourself to take the time to make lasting changes.
Your first session with Katherine
In our first session, we are just getting to know each other! I will ask you as many questions as I need to to learn about you as a person, your interests, nutrition goals, and how you want to see our work together enhance your life. You should not feel any pressure or nerves. We will work through the first session at your pace, and we will set some long and short term goals that are sustainable and measurable. This way you leave your first session feeling like you can see what you are moving towards.
