About Kati
Hi! I am Kati Burton, a registered dietitian nutritionist in Missoula, Montana with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in dietetics and community nutrition from Virginia Tech. I moved west in 2014 for my dietetic internship at Montana State University, and fell in love with the beautiful landscape and rich history. Since becoming a dietitian, I have enjoyed a career of nutrition counseling and coaching in clinic, public health and tribal health departments; as well as subject matter expertise on nutrition assistance programs at the state and federal levels. Maintaining a private nutrition practice is important to me, to provide accessible, personalized nutrition guidance and coaching. Rapidly changing trends, conflicting advice, and administrative burdens can get in the way of getting your questions answered in real time. I am here to help you on your unique health journey.
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in evidence-based science, your unique needs and culture, and realistic steps towards improving quality of life. My focus is on reflective listening, providing information, and empowering you to take one or ten steps closer to your health goals. Whether supporting you during life transitions such as pregnancy or menopause, managing chronic conditions, or helping you fuel your first marathon, I’m here for your journey towards better health.
Your first session with Kati
During our first session, we will explore your primary concerns, health history, and goals. We will get to know each other and formulate a reasonable plan of action to review and amend at our follow up. Your unique cultural history and relationship with food will always be a top priority.
