About Katrina
Hi there! My name is Katrina and I'm a Registered Dietitian based in Mississippi. I've been a dietitian since 2016 and I've worked across multiple states with people of varying backgrounds. I started my career in Kentucky and a few years ago moved to Mississippi. I spent time working between Mississippi and Tennessee. I've worked people on a variety of topics including: diabetes, heart health, kidney disease/dialysis, relationship with food, fitness/wellness, as well as a general balanced approach to nutrition. I love food and cooking - trying recipes, tips & tricks in the kitchen, trying new foods. I also really enjoy finding ways to save money on healthy foods. I truly believe that nutrition is about wellness - we find ways to make small, long lasting changes that are easy to keep up with over time. This means we embrace celebrations - foods that bring us joy - having that balance in life. My goal is to find out how I can best help you get to your goals and feel good doing it!
Approach to care
My goal is to meet you where you are - no judgement - just working together to find ways to help you meet your goals. We will discuss those big picture goals - your "why" for seeking out a dietitian. In order to get to those big picture goals, we start with smaller goals first - little things that we can work on day to day that we can keep up with long term. The small goals are what help us get to the big goals - we take it one step at a time. During our meetings, my goal is to listen and see how I can support you best in your journey. I like to focus on a non-diet, weight neutral approach to health. Our wellness and overall nutritional status is so much more than just what we eat or drink everyday and that is why I take a very "whole person" approach to nutrition / wellness.
Your first session with Katrina
During our first session, it's all about laying the foundation. We'll focus on getting to know each other - talking about your day to day life, health history, eating habits, things you enjoy doing, your health goals (as well as your "why" for those goals), etc. I'll answer any questions you may have when it comes to meeting with a dietitian. We'll also complete a standard, comprehensive assessment during the visit and then we'll go from there. My goal is to make sure that you feel comfortable - I'm not here to judge, I'm here to help guide and support you. Can't wait to meet!
