About Kelly

Hello! My name is Kelly. I live near Boulder, CO (MST time zone), with my husband, two Dobermans, and our cat. I have been a practicing Registered Dietitian (RD) for over 12 years now and have a B.S. in dietetics as well as an M.S. in nutrition/exercise science. My hobbies are traveling/sightseeing, cooking, trying new cuisines and restaurants, playing piano, hiking, and nutrition and fitness. I am a veteran of the US Air Force Special Ops and have traveled to many countries around the world - some great, and some NOT so great, but I have some cool stories to tell :-) I specialize in many areas of healthcare including weight management, diabetes, kidney disease, emotional eating, and healthy aging. I have spent many years working various settings to include hospitals, long-term care facilities, bariatric and weight loss clinics, and dialysis clinics. I ensure I always stay up-to-date on current nutrition trends, topics, and research as I know it is ever-expanding!

Approach to care

I believe a dietitian can be more like a lifestyle coach. I believe in providing the best possible care for each and every person. Everyone is different, and I promise I will do my best to be a guide for you and help you in all the ways that I can that is right for you. I have a lot of life experience and have traveled around the world. I know that humans aren't robots and are not expected to follow strict, military-like regiments with work, eating, exercise, etc., as this is generally not sustainable, and not very realistic or enjoyable! I like to eat as much as anyone, but I understand that our bodies need proper nutrition and care most of the time to live a sustainable and healthy life and to be able to continue doing things we want to do as we age. Understanding your history and lifestyle will help me to provide you with the best care that I can to keep you motivated and on track to meet your goals. I understand that life presents challenges but know that I am here for you!

Your first session with Kelly

In your first session with me, I will do a comprehensive assessment reviewing your medical history, current dietary/eating habits, food allergies, current lifestyle and/or exercise habits, and your goals. Any recent lab work may be helpful. Providing a 3-day food journal may be beneficial for me as well as yourself to help you better understand and assess your daily habits. In conclusion, I will review what was discussed and clearly state your goals and next steps, and then we will schedule a follow-up session.
