About Kiersten
Hi, I’m Kiersten. I’ve worked in community health for 10 years, and sales and marketing for 5 years. I pursued nutrition and dietetics as a career due to my passion for nurturing others within the scope of health and care. My work as a registered dietitian has allowed me to care for individuals experiencing both minor and major health challenges, and I find the work of counseling and nurturing individuals towards healthy choices to be very rewarding. I have special interest in autoimmune diseases, women’s health, and neurocognitive change. Caring for clients experiencing these conditions is important to me.
Approach to care
Educational, collaborative, sustainable. I want to hear from you about your nutrition journey so far and why you’re meeting with me now. Whether that means you’ve never paid attention to nutrition before but now you’re noticing hormonal changes, or you’ve been dieting since you were a teenager and you want to quit the cycle, or you’re newly struggling with losing or gaining weight, or you’re challenging yourself to change your dietary patterns to improve longevity due to a family history of chronic disease or a new diagnosis that you’ve received.
Your first session with Kiersten
Whatever the reason is that brings you to our first session, I want to hear where you’re coming from, and then begin to help you and I both understand your ‘why’, and let it motivate our work together. Examples of what we may discuss in a first session: History of relationship with food, systems that have historically worked for you but are no longer working, etc.
Education
I earned my Master’s degree in Dietetics from The University of Rhode Island, and my Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science from The University of Maryland. I completed my dietetic internship through Virginia State University, with a special focus in Agriculture. I have completed additional coursework in Intuitive Eating with Evelyn Tribole.
Hobbies
Supporting local businesses. I love a good bookstore, artisan market, or craft fair! Time outdoors with my two daughters. Long or short walks – both are great!
