About Kristen
Hi! My name is Kristen Burkey and I am a Registered Dietitian who is passionate about women's health. Through the years, I have worked with women to achieve their health and wellness outcomes to include weight loss, hormone balance, GI health, and improved mood/energy. I have personally experienced the effects and benefits of a whole-foods diet, along with exercise and self-care routines, which has led to increased energy levels, balanced mood, and reduced overall perimenopause symptoms such as hot flashes and weight gain. I believe in the power of food as medicine and would love to help women at any age to experience the positive impact of a healthy lifestyle to live life to the fullest!
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition care is very personalized. Everyone is made uniquely both within our genetics as well as our life experiences. I help you to find the "Why" behind your goals as I believe this is very important to the motivation behind long-term lifestyle changes. Over the years, I have heard many dreadful stories of symptoms women entering perimenopause experience including hot flashes, anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of energy, and the list goes on. I was determined to turn my story around and not surrender to this being my new 'normal'. Through some simple dietary approaches including an Anti-Inflammatory diet, my faith in God, and creativity in my daily routine, I can honestly say I am feeling better than I have in years! One of my biggest goals in life is to enjoy my kids and grandkids and I know that I want to feel my best to do so. If you are a mom at any stage in life or a mom entering perimenopause, I would love to work with you to help you feel your best too!
Your first session with Kristen
During your first session, I will listen carefully to your story and what you would like to gain from our time together so that I can understand how I can best guide and assist you. I will walk you through an initial nutrition assessment in which we will explore your personal, family, and medical history. This information will allow me to provide you with the best plan as we move forward. We will set both short and long-term goals that are realistic and attainable in order to maintain accountability. During our future sessions, we will monitor your progress and make any adjustments to move you towards your goals to be the best version of you!
