About Kristen
Oh hey!! My name is Kristen Spang, a Registered Dietitian currently living in Florence, SC, however I will soon be making the move to Del Rio, TX. I am a dog mom and am absolutely obsessed with my perfect fluffy boi, Milo (his insta is post.miloan if you need some puppy love). I have always been interested in health, however it grew into a passion as I was raised in and surrounded by environments where food was associated with shame, particular foods were given the stigma of good vs bad, and it just became a topic that was so polarizing that it was something we would avoid talking about. One of my first degrees I earned was a BA in Psychology, and I find it so interesting how interconnected our brains and bodies are. There is always a "why" when it comes to where we are today, and although it's never a simple answer, it's one we can continously work on together.
Approach to care
I take a very personalized approach to care, as no one body is the same as another. My favorite quote from my favorite show, Ted Lasso, is: "be curious, not judgmental". I love working with clients who are curious about ways in which they can grow, manners in which they can improve themselves, and who are open and honest about where they are in their journey. I want to be a safe space where you can have that open communication without fear of judgment. A lot of times in healthcare our struggles are minimalized or providers don't take the time to fully understand and get to know the "why" behind it. Health, weight loss, weight gain, disordered eating, general health concerns (the list goes on and on) are SO personal and I want you to feel heard, understood, and I want to find a way to ensure that your questions are answered and you are supported.
