About Lara
Hi Im Lara! I've been a registered dietitian for 2 years working with a variety of disease state with expertise in diabetes and weight management including GLP1s and bariatric surgery with complicated histories like thyroid disease, liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, heart disease, PTSD, to name a few. Being of Mediterranean descent, I cook traditional dishes with fresh herbs, spices, produce, whole grains, and lean proteins like fish, legumes, greek yogurt, and using meat like a condiment. My favorite dish to cook is something I learned along the way; thai curry. I express myself through creating delicious cultural and healthy meals for myself and my loved ones. I am particularly interested in new ingredients, spices, and being creative in the kitchen. I enjoy being active, It is part of my lifestyle, I enjoy weight training, yoga, hiking, and tennis any chance I can get.
Approach to care
My passion for nutrition encompases a realistic approach to health using nutrition and lifestyle modifications for sustainable health. I use evidenced-based research in a patient-centered counseling leaving biases out the door. I listen and challenge you to make goals you can achieve. We will set up long term and short terms goals and regularly reevaluate. You will gain confidence in your self when you see results working with me. I will make sure you get the support and resources you need.
Your first session with Lara
Our first session will set the stage, we will look into your medical history, habits, lab work, preferences, and lifestyle to develop a personalized plan based on your nutrition goals. The first appointment we will get to know each other and will primarily consist of education with the following appointments focused on adjusting and building on our goals. We will make 2-3 micro goals each week, sometimes the same goal, sometimes the next step, or sometimes shifting gears.
