About Larissa
Dietitian. Menopausal. Wife. Mother. Dog Mom. Traveler. Daughter. Sister. Grandmother. Yoga Instructor (RYT-200, working on my 500-hour advanced training). Retired runner. Semi-Vegetarian. Health Enthusiast. These are all words that describe me. My path to here has been a diversified career in nutrition, working within and across multiple modalities. As a dietitian for over 30 years, I am passionate and enthusiastic about your health and nutrition, applying these concepts within my own life and home. I personally focus on nutrition, daily movement, sleep, stress management, socialization, and learning; all factors are collectively utilized to maintain my health and wellness. I also like to utilize technology to help me remain accountable and consistent. I love to help others do the same. Finally, I am a plant lover so I want to convince everyone to eat more plants. Namaste.
Approach to care
My approach to care is simple - it is driven by you. I am kind, compassionate, caring, and empathetic to your struggles and needs. My goal is to guide your confidence in executing and maintaining your journey, however you see fit. I use theoretical frameworks to guide my care, focusing on the Transtheoretical Model: Stages of Change model and Motivational Interviewing technique. This allows for you to be in the driver seat, coming as you are, and I am only the passenger to provide guidance.
Your first session with Larissa
When we first meet, I want to know about you. I will want to hear about your previous experiences that brought you here, your challenges, your successes, your goals, and how you want to begin. I like to get a feel of your typical lifestyle, including nutritional patterns (food, drink, and supplements). I find that individuals often have a laundry list of changes to implement, but the reality is that the tortoise wins the race. We will work together to capitalize on your successes to build your confidence and propel you successfully into new behavior changes that you choose. We will focus on evidence-based nutritional changes, which will not include the New Dietary Guidelines in entirety, but we will go at your pace.
