About Laura
Hi, my name is Laura, and I have been working in the health/fitness industry for over 25 years as a Registered Dietitian and as a fitness/aerobics instructor. I became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2008 and NASM personal trainer in 2013. I specialize in diabetes, heart health, weight management, bariatric nutrition (pre- and post-op), and building realistic, sustainable fitness habits. My passion for this work is deeply personal: like many families, mine has been affected by chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer. I became a dietitian to help others take steps to prevent or manage these conditions before they take hold.
Approach to care
I believe that nutrition and fitness are powerful tools for disease prevention, healing, and lifelong wellness. My approach is rooted in compassion, education, and evidence-based practice. I take time to understand each personās unique health history, lifestyle, and goalsāthere is no one-size-fits-all plan. Whether you're managing a chronic condition like diabetes or heart disease, preparing for bariatric surgery, or simply trying to feel better in your body, I will guide you with respect, realistic strategies, and ongoing support. I focus on empowering clientsānot just with information, but with practical tools to take meaningful steps toward better health. That might mean rethinking nutrition habits, finding movement that feels good, building confidence around food, or learning how to make sustainable changes in a busy life. Health is not about perfection. It's about progress, consistency, and finding what works for you. Iām here to be your partner on that journey.
Your first session with Laura
I want to get to know you and find out what has worked well for you in the past. I will get a detailed medical/social history, review labs/medications, find out your typical eating pattern and most importantly find out what you want to achieve. This will help me get a good understanding of what your goals are so that we can collaborate on what you feel is best for you.
