About Laura

My own health journey inspired me to become a dietitian. As a teenager, I struggled with my weight and tried many diets that weren’t healthy or sustainable. Those experiences motivated me to study nutrition in college—not just to improve my own health, but also to help others find practical, evidence-based strategies that work. I’ve seen firsthand how chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease touch lives, as several of my family members have faced these challenges. Their experiences encouraged me to pursue advanced training in diabetes education, cardiac nutrition, bariatric counseling, and health coaching. For over fifteen years, I’ve worked closely with other healthcare professionals in team-based settings, developing a holistic, compassionate approach to support every patient’s wellbeing.

Approach to care

I believe the most valuable part of working with a dietitian is building a trusting, ongoing relationship. Making lifestyle changes isn’t easy—it takes support, accountability, and encouragement. Research shows that people are more successful in reaching their goals when they have a coach and partner in the process. That’s the role I strive to fill for you. I see our work together as a partnership: I bring expertise in nutrition science, and you bring expertise about your goals, preferences, and daily life. Together, we’ll create your long-term health goals and then develop small, realistic short-term goals that will support you in achieving them. My counseling style is grounded in compassionate listening and empathetic support. I know challenges are part of the process, and I’ll be there to help you navigate them while also celebrating every milestone you achieve.

Your first session with Laura

In our first session, my goal is to get to know you—your story, your health goals, and your expectations for working with a dietitian. I want to learn about your past experiences with making changes in your eating habits, including both your successes and obstacles. These insights will help us create a personalized nutrition plan that fits your current circumstances. We’ll talk about your health history, lifestyle, and current eating patterns, then work together to set achievable short-term goals that support your long-term goals. By the end of our session, you’ll have clear, practical steps to start right away, along with a partner to guide and support you on your journey.
