About Lisa
Hi, I’m Lisa Joyner, a registered dietitian based in Southeastern Connecticut. I’ve raised four children into healthy adulthood and worked across hospitals, schools, and community centers, giving me a well-rounded approach that blends clinical expertise with real-life understanding. A defining dietetics experience was completing a specialty internship at an eating disorder clinic, which strengthened my commitment to compassionate, individualized care and meeting people where they are. I’m passionate about providing practical nutrition education that supports realistic, sustainable changes and lasting positive health outcomes.
Approach to care
I believe that while food fuels our bodies, it is also meant to be enjoyed. I take a holistic, all-foods-fit approach to care and focus on building a healthy, balanced relationship with food. Our relationship with food can influence many areas of life, and I strive to support you in creating one that feels sustainable and empowering. I provide a non-judgmental space grounded in empathy, understanding, and evidence-based nutrition guidance. Together, we will create realistic, attainable goals that align with your individual needs and comfort level. Your journey is your own, and I’m here to offer guidance, encouragement, and support every step of the way.
Your first session with Lisa
Your first session will focus on getting to know each other in a safe, supportive environment. We’ll talk about what brings you to nutrition counseling and what you hope to gain from the experience. We may also discuss your lifestyle, relationship with food, movement habits, and medical history, always at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I’ll meet you where you are and work collaboratively with you to develop a plan that aligns with your goals. Together, we’ll begin to identify realistic next steps that feel manageable and aligned with your life. Above all, my goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and confident moving forward.
