About Lorna

Hello! My name is Lorna and I am a licensed and registered dietitian. I have also spent much of my career as a Professor of Nutrition and Public Health and a Nutrition Program Director. I am passionate about helping people achieve meaningful and sustainable health changes through compassionate, empathetic, and evidence-based nutrition care. I use personalized strategies where the focus is on you—the client—and your unique challenges. My experience includes Medical Nutrition Therapy, Weight Management, and chronic disease management such as Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Triglycerides, and Heart and Renal Disease. With a background in Public Health, my approach is holistic and examines all aspects of your health and wellness. My goal is for you to be actively involved in planning, ensuring your care plan fits your unique needs, lifestyle, and culture. If you are seeking support on your health journey, I would love to work with you!

Approach to care

My approach to care is personalized and holistic. It allows you as the client to take ownership and actively participate in your wellness journey. My role is very supportive as I also encourage accountability. I also empower clients, as needed, by gathering and providing resources that can help or support your unique situation. I encourage mindfulness, exploring relationship with food, setting realistic goals, and taking one step at a time in your journey.

Your first session with Lorna

In our first session, we will get to know each other and develop a rapport. I will take the time through active listening to discuss and understand your health history, food preferences, choices and eating patterns, as well as well as explore lifestyle and environmental factors that influence your health and nutrition status. This will form the foundation for moving forward together in your health journey.
