About Maggie
Hello! My name is Maggie, a registered, licensed dietitian, with over 20 years of experience in a variety of topics, including general nutrition, weight management, gut health, mental health, eating disorders, prediabetes/diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, plant based diets, and fueling for sport. I earned my BS in Dietetics from the University of Kentucky, and my MPH from the University of Minnesota, where I was honored to be a Leadership in Adolescent Health Fellow. Growing up in Lexington, KY, I developed a lifelong love of watching college basketball. I currently reside in the Twin Cities area with my husband, our two daughters, and our dog, Basil. In my free time, you can find me cheering on the girls are their basketball and softball games, tennis matches, and dance competitions. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, walking the dog, reading, listening to music, playing games, and dancing (I still put on my tap shoes!).
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition is to focus on creating a space where all foods can fit as part of a healthy, balanced, and enjoyable diet. I believe in the idea that there is no one size fits all plan for everyone and I enjoy working with others, using nutritional expertise coupled with curiosity and flexibility, to help explore options that support progress towards and achievement of goals. I see opportunities for behavior change as a creative place, using a "try and learn" approach.
Your first session with Maggie
During your first session with me, we will take time in getting to know each other, while you share your goals for working with a Nourish dietitian. I will ask a variety of questions to learn more about your diet and health history, your relationship with exercise, and any medications, lab values, etc. We will then use this information collaboratively to begin setting short and long term goals that support the improvement and maintenance of your health goals.
