About Mahalia

I am a Registered Dietitian specializing in weight management and bariatric nutrition, with over five years of experience supporting patients through every stage of their journey. My background includes extensive work with kidney transplant and bariatric surgery patients, as well as those managing chronic conditions requiring complex nutrition support such as enteral and parenteral feeding. I also hold certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC). I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their weight loss and health goals—whether preparing for bariatric surgery, navigating post-operative nutrition, managing complications, or optimizing outcomes while on GLP-1 therapy or other weight loss medications.

Approach to care

My approach to care is gentle, supportive, and patient-centered. I believe in equipping individuals with the tools, education, and confidence they need to make sustainable lifestyle changes and achieve long-term success. Each patient’s journey is unique, and I focus on creating practical, realistic strategies that fit into daily life while ensuring nutritional adequacy and overall well-being.

Your first session with Mahalia

I’ll start by listening—your goals, current eating and exercise patterns, medical history, medications/labs, and (if applicable) your bariatric surgery stage or GLP-1 use. Together we’ll identify your top priorities and create a realistic, step-by-step plan—whether you’re preparing for surgery, managing a nutrition complication, optimizing GLP-1 therapy, or simply learning how to eat better for long-term success. You’ll leave with 1–3 personalized action steps (e.g., protein/fluid targets, meal structure, supplement plan), practical resources, and a clear follow-up plan.
