About Maren
Hi, I’m Maren, a registered dietitian with a deep-rooted passion for connecting people to nourishing food in ways that are practical, sustainable, and personalized. I grew up in Connecticut and completed my education at the University of Connecticut and Yale New Haven Hospital, where I built a strong foundation in clinical nutrition, with experience in kidney disease, heart health, transplant care, weight management, and more. In addition to my clinical training, I have a strong background in community nutrition working at the intersection of education, access, and empowerment. I’ve taught nutrition and cooking in classrooms, led programs at farmers markets, and supported families in community clinics. I now live in New York City, where I continue this work by teaching gardening and cooking to elementary school students. Whether in the hospital or the classroom, I’ve seen how food connects to every part of our lives, and I bring that perspective to my work every day.
Approach to care
I take a holistic and realistic approach to nutrition care recognizing that health is influenced by more than just food. Your lifestyle, culture, environment, and access all play a role in shaping your habits, and I believe nutrition support should reflect that. Rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all plan, I focus on small, practical changes that make sense for your life. We’ll work together to create a supportive, judgment-free space where your goals and challenges are respected and your progress is celebrated.
Your first session with Maren
Our first visit is all about understanding your big picture. We’ll explore your current eating habits, lifestyle, routines, health history, and what you hope to achieve. I want to get a sense of your day-to-day life so we can build a nutrition plan that works with it. By the end of the session, we’ll set a few meaningful, realistic goals together tailored specifically to your life, your needs, and what’s most important to you. My role is to support and guide you—not to tell you what to do, but to help you find what works best for you.
