About Maria
Maria brings 14 years of experience working with children and adults receiving nutrition support, both tube feedings (enteral nutrition or EN) and parenteral nutrition (PN), in the home setting. She enjoys helping to optimize each individual's nutrition status and overall health by setting reasonable and manageable goals. Maria also possesses a deep understanding of what these alternative nutrition modalities look like in the home setting and the challenges that may arise.
Approach to care
Maria listens to understand each patient's story. She believes that the patient, their family/caregiver (when appropriate), and the medical professional(s) are a team. There are many ways to achieve goals in nutrition care. Maria respects and takes into account each patient's home environment, preferences, concerns, capabilities, resources, and activities when tailoring goals to meet their requirements.
Your first session with Maria
During your first session, Maria will encourage an open dialogue to better understand medical history, goals, concerns, preferences, and any other factors that would be beneficial to discuss. She will also review timelines for future sessions and explain tasks that are to be completed between sessions.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Hobbies
Outside of work, Maria enjoys spending time with her son, walks with her dog, yoga, paddle boarding, reading, crafts, restoring "vin-tique" furniture, live music events, and just being outdoors in general.
