About Maria

Hi! I'm Maria Wolfel, last name is pronounced Waffle, like the food item! (Pretty cool, huh?) I’m a dietitian who believes in balance and kindness. My approach goes beyond food. True wellness comes from asking, “What am I doing to take care of myself today?” That includes eating colorful meals, moving your body, getting enough sleep, nurturing social connections, practicing good hygiene and giving yourself grace. When you tend to all these areas, you feel your best. Change is always possible, and you’re never stuck; with evidence‑based guidance and real‑world understanding, we can work together to build a healthier, happier you.

Approach to care

My approach to care is to meet patients where they are and treat them with the empathy and respect I would want for myself. I know nutrition can feel confusing, so I strive to demystify it by grounding my recommendations in evidence‑based practice while honoring the realities of day‑to‑day life. There are two ends of the spectrum, rigid clinical guidelines on one side and lived experiences on the other. I aim to marry the two in the middle, crafting plans that are both scientifically sound and practically achievable. By listening carefully to what matters most to each person and blending research with real‑world insights, I can empower patients to make informed decisions and build sustainable habits that align with their values and goals.

Your first session with Maria

We’ll spend most of our 60 minutes talking about what brought you in, your concerns, and your goals. I’ll ask about your medical history, eating habits, daily routine, stress and sleep patterns, and any lab results or symptoms you’ve been experiencing. It’s a judgment‑free space: there are no wrong answers. I want to understand your thoughts about food without imposing rigid rules, and I’ll listen carefully to your ideas and concerns. We’ll review your registration information and discuss any health conditions so I can build a personalized nutrition plan. I’ll share evidence‑based nutrition science in plain language to help you understand the “why” behind my recommendations. Together we’ll start setting realistic, achievable goals and agree on next steps, including how often to meet after the first session. By the end of our conversation, you should feel heard, supported, and clear about how we’ll work together toward your health goals.
