About Mariah
Hello! I have been practicing as a Registered Dietitian for almost 5 years. I live in South Dakota with my husband and three children. I love to spend my free time baking desserts, cleaning my house, or exercising in various ways! I love helping individuals feel confident in their food choices, without guilt! My favorite food (today) is a burger, but that's subject to change pretty frequently as I love exploring new dishes and am not very picky! I believe food is nourishing for both our bodies and our soul, and I believe respecting our bodies doesn't depend on what size it is.
Approach to care
I am passionate about making nutrition accessible and realistic for everyone. I find joy in all kinds of food, and want my clients to have the freedom to do the same! I love helping my clients learn to nourish their bodies with food while developing a healthy relationship body image and eating along the way. My approach is weight-neutral, positive, and not judgmental. Instead of teaching clients what foods are 'good' or 'bad', I teach my clients how our bodies use all foods, how to feel confident in choosing foods to feel well, and how to enjoy all foods without guilt or shame. I love using positive body image mantras and discussions throughout nutrition education, so that a client can also learn to practice body respect.
Your first session with Mariah
I like to spend our first session getting to know you and your goals. We will spend some time gathering information so that I can learn more about what brings you to our session, as well as your history and daily routines. Though this session is a bit heavier in information gathering than other sessions, it really helps set the stage so that I can support you better in the future with adequate information on where you're at today. This session is not meant to feel like a confessional or a graded report! We'll get to know one another and close by discussing a plan going forward!
