About Mariah

Hi, I'm Mariah, a Registered Dietitian based in Birmingham, Alabama. With 12 years of experience, I've worked in clinical hospital settings, private practice, community health, corporate wellness, and ambulatory outpatient care, always focusing on helping people feel confident about food and their health. I earned an MS in Nutrition Sciences and a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, and I practice with the credentials you'll see after my name, including RDN and CDCES. I specialize in helping people with diabetes meet their blood sugar goals. I am particularly passionate about helping people with type 1 diabetes. I have advanced training in insulin pump education and am well versed in evaluating insulin pump and blood sugar data. When I'm not working, you'll find me running and hiking on all the trails around the Birmingham area, biking, camping, or enjoying time outdoors with my family. I'm here to support you as you pursue sustainable, lasting change.

Approach to care

Care philosophy: I believe nutrition care works best when it is evidence-based, empathetic, and collaborative. I stay rooted in science while honoring your lived experience, body wisdom, and HAES principles. Together we'll set realistic goals, translate research into practical steps, and build skills that stick for the long term. I prioritize a holistic view that includes sleep, stress, and daily routines, and I avoid restrictive diet culture. You'll find this is a warm, nonjudgmental space where education empowers you to make informed choices that fit your life.

Your first session with Mariah

What to expect first appointment: Our first visit is all about you. We'll take a thorough health assessment, build rapport, and talk about your goals in a judgment-free, low-pressure setting. We'll discuss your relationship with food, routines, and any barriers you've faced, then begin shaping a realistic plan. You don't need to have everything figured out; we'll meet you where you are and set 1 to 2 achievable steps to start. I'm excited to partner with you on your extraordinary health journey.
