About Marissa
Hi there, my name is Marissa and I have been a Registered Dietitian for 7 years. I started my career working in a hospital environment where I primarily worked in ICUs (I did a lot of tube feeds which is a passion of mine!). I truly love what I do and am passionate about helping others achieve their healthiest lifestyle that feels good and balanced to them. I love animals and have 2 cats named Graycie and Finnegan who bring me so much joy. I am obsessed with skincare and beauty as I have a license in cosmetology but decided to pursue nutrition instead.
Approach to care
Nutrition should be simple, evidence based, accessible, and inclusive. Food doesn't have moral value as health is nuanced and influenced by various personal factors. This is a safe, compassionate and judgment free environment. I am a huge advocate for your autonomy, developing a good relationship with food and positive mental health. Whether it's gut conditions, tube feeding, PCOS, menopause, or another medical condition, healthy habits are key to encourage an optimal, sustainable lifestyle. Concepts such as body image work, exploring your personal definition of health, social constructs surrounding health/weight and more are explored in sessions.
Your first session with Marissa
My primary focus for patient care currently doesn't include focusing only on weight loss. I can assist with weight management with some medical conditions (as appropriate) but this is not my primary specialty. I can assist with body composition in the setting of sports performance as well. During your first session we will discuss any questions you have regarding how Nourish works, confirm your contact information, ensure all forms are completed and review your medical history, current lifestyle, personal struggles and develop long term goals. If we have time, we will discuss what you usually eat in a day and other nutrition related information so I can help you achieve your goals.
