About Marissa

Hi, I’m Marissa Thorsen, a Registered Dietitian with 15 years of experience in the field and more than a decade focused on child and school-based nutrition. I’ve spent much of my career working in K-12 public schools, helping districts develop balanced, compliant menus and guiding wellness policies that support lifelong healthy habits for students. I’m also a proud mom of two—ages 13 and 11, so I understand firsthand the challenges of feeding a family, juggling busy schedules, and trying to make healthy choices. That personal perspective, combined with my professional background, fuels my passion for helping others build a positive relationship with food.

Approach to care

I believe nutrition shouldn’t be complicated, overwhelming, or stressful. There’s so much noise out there about what to eat and what to avoid, and it’s easy to feel confused or stuck. My goal is to cut through that noise and simplify nutrition, so it fits your life, not the other way around. I focus on realistic, sustainable changes that support your long-term health. Whether you’re navigating weight changes, managing your child’s nutrition, or just trying to feel better day to day, I’ll help you build habits that work for you, ones that feel doable and empowering, not restrictive.

Your first session with Marissa

Our first session is all about getting to know you. I take a whole-person approach to care, which means I want to understand not just what you eat, but how you live. We’ll talk about your goals, your daily routines, your work and family life, and any habits or patterns that impact your health. We’ll also review your medical and family history, current eating habits, and any challenges or frustrations you’ve faced around food or wellness. Whether you’re here for support with weight management, your child’s nutrition, or just want to feel better and more energized, we’ll work together to create a plan that fits your lifestyle. This session is judgment-free, supportive, and personalized. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and confident about taking the next step in your wellness journey.
