About Marty
Hello! Thanks for taking a step toward reaching your health goals. I have been assisting determined people like you to achieve better health for over 20 years. My food allergies led me to help others learn to shop and cook. My practice in rural Pennsylvania focused on sending obesity, diabetes, and heart disease into remission by developing simple, doable steps. The nutrition research I worked with, funded by the National Institutes of Health, helped create protocols used throughout the US. What rocks my world as a dietitian? When a patient says, "I have to send you my labs! My doctor didn't think this was possible!" So, how can I help you?
Approach to care
My philosophy is "What do you want your food to do for you?" Do you want to stabilize your weight or decrease your A1c? Lower your cholesterol or rebuild the gut biome bacteria? Is food a crutch you want to toss or is lowering dementia risk the target? Everything starts with YOU. You are unique and so is your life. Most people are doing good things for themselves, and many times an easy tweak on something you are already doing can make a big change. You donβt fail. You simply haven't found the right path. Let's tailor a path to your goals that fits your life.
Your first session with Marty
We begin finding out about you - your goals, your schedule, your eating patterns, who lives with you, who does the cooking and shopping. Or you don't cook at all. Together, we plan steps for the next week that fit your life. You set the pace. I am here to help you, not judge you. I support you by making the process doable, and fun. I will answer medical questions or explain why or how you may have a condition. Knowledge is power. We discuss the resources you need to fulfill your short-term goals and create an accountability system to reach them. My goal is that we end with you feeling empowered!
