About Mary
Hello! My name is Mary Cooper, I am a registered dietitian with a background primarily in acute care nutrition with years of experience working in a hospital setting. I have been able to work with a wide variety of patients with unique nutrition concerns ranging from cancer to diabetes management. In my younger years at home, balanced nutrition was often not understood and was very difficult to prioritize. I slowly learned in my adult years that making positive nutrition choices can be life-changing for our health and well-being. To this day, I still remember how challenging and difficult it was to prioritize nutrition when we are incredibly busy, have full-time jobs, children, and other numerous tasks throughout the day that can get in the way of taking care of ourselves. My goal is to provide empathetic nutrition counseling to clients, and to utilize my past experiences and knowledge to help my clients reach their goals in a way that feels good and works best for them.
Approach to care
My approach to care centers around creating a non-judgmental, understanding, and collaborative relationship with clients. My goal is to empower my clients and provide them with the information needed to make changes that positively impact them and to also give them the tools and encouragement they need to maintain these changes in the long-term.
Your first session with Mary
In our first session together, I will spend some time getting to know who you are as a person, what your typical day looks like, and how you currently approach your nutrition choices. I am interested in learning about the whole version of you, not just solely focusing on the food you eat. With learning more about you, we can then collaborate on what potential changes or adjustments may make the most positive impact for you in your daily life. We can create goals together and/or spend time discussing barriers you may have been experiencing in making adjustments to your nutrition and work to make improvements to these. It is a priority of mine to allow my clients to lead our appointments and discuss making changes in a way that feels positive and attainable.
