About Mary

Hi, my name is Mary Jo Thomas and I am from Jackson, MS! I received my Bachelors degree from Mississippi State University and received my Masters degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. I have worked as a clinical dietitian in the hospital setting for 4 years providing nutrition care for different disease states. During this time, I was able to manage a variety of different patients including Oncology, Bariatric, Burn, GI surgery and Critical Care patients. At Nourish I am looking forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your nutrition goals!

Approach to care

I believe the first step of knowing how to set a goal is based in education of the subject. Providing nutrition education can help you gain understanding of food to understand how food is affecting your body. Once you have the basis of that education, I can help set realistic goals based on your lifestyle. Everyone is different and I hope to help you set goals that work for you in your life!

Your first session with Mary

During your firsts session, I will be gaining an understanding of your current lifestyle i.e. daily food intake, medical history, medications/supplement use, employment status, household information, etc. Knowing this can help me gain perspective of what life looks like for you. In preparation for your first session, I ask patients to create a food journal logging daily intake for at least 3 days. After this we will proceed into the nutrition education portion of the session. From there we can focus on creating goals together to help you succeed.
