About Mary

Hi, I'm Mary, a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) licensed in several states. I have 23 years of experience connecting warmly with my clients backed by a Bachelor's in Food Science and Human Nutrition. I have worked in hospitals, clinics, and even at major medical centers in the Portland area providing Diabetes Tech training and support to doctors, educators, and patients, alike. I have spent a long time living with and around people with diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2, and that experience informs my warm, science-based approach. When I am not working, I travel the world to find historical sites & love hiking with my dog, painting, making jewelry, cooking, coaching, and curling up with a good book.

Approach to care

My care is grounded in evidence and compassion. I believe in a collaborative partnership where we meet you where you are and build a sustainable plan together. I translate current science into practical steps you can use day to day, and I am committed to clear, action oriented guidance. My approach is holistic, addressing sleep, stress, movement, microbiome repair, and meals. I will educate you so you understand the why behind the plan, empowering you to make informed choices for long term health.

Your first session with Mary

Our first appointment is a welcoming conversation about you and your goals. We'll review your medical history, current medications and supplements, and any relevant lab work or biometrics. We'll establish short-term goals and a realistic timeline, and I’ll ask about your daily routines, preferences, and concerns. No pressure, no judgment, just a plan we create together. You don't need to have it all figured out; we'll map out a few realistic next steps to get you moving forward between visits. Please bring a list of medications and supplements you currently use.
