About Meghan
I am a registered dietitian with 5+ years of experience. I love to cook, garden and paint in my spare time. I have two animals, a chatty senior cat and a sweet dog. I began my nutrition career as a cook in college. I took a part-time job at the university dining halls to generate extra beer money. From there I left the Midwest for the East Coast and cooked for a residential eating disorder center in Boston. Shortly after, I relocated to Birmingham, Alabama to attend graduate school. During school I joined a clinical weight loss trial as a behavior coach. I followed participants one on one for 18 months completing biweekly telehealth calls. In addition to the calls, I taught monthly group classes. Since then, I've worked in multiple long term care settings. I have provided nutrition therapy for people living with developmental disabilities and people living with chronic conditions such diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and kidney disease.
Approach to care
Moderation, goal setting, movement, portion control, healthy habits, intake tracking, and recipe modification. My approach to care starts with a patient centered method. My role is to guide you incrementally towards your goals. I will do this by asking you to examine your habits. Then we will work together to turn unhealthy habits into desirable change. I can provide recipes, educational resources and personalized macros. Change happens on your own time and when nobody is watching. It's about making daily informed decisions that will yield the results you desire!
Your first session with Meghan
I usually go over recent intake, current eating habits, past approaches to achieve desired health goals, and current activity level. Then I work with you to set individualized measured goals. Then we will prioritize your goals and establish an appropriate and reasonable timeline to meet your health goals.
